You may have classes of different levels of interest. Some may be boring, some may be worth anticipating; you may even have classes you wish you don't have to take. So, you may be fall asleep in classes that you less interest. How to stay awake during classes? Let us see, you may take down notes, get some drinks or meals before your class, having a healthy lifestyle and be participate in class to stay awake during classes.
When you having a long period of classes, you may need to take down some notes to help you stay awake. Because, you may be the best in memorizing things but we only use 10% of our brain. It's good to take down notes to keep you busy and to remember things that teacher gave emphasis on. You can use acronyms or any other shortcuts and highlight those words that you don't understand; the good thing here is you can rewrite or edit your notes after class. You will also be more concentrate. Keep your brain busy by following the teacher's discussions, not by daydreaming. Daydreaming may lead you to narcolepsy that makes you lose mentally asleep even though you're physically awake.
On the other hand, never come to class hungry, because an empty stomach won't help your brain and body fully work. Add to that the embarrassment of hearing your tummy grumble, crying for food. In simple words, an empty stomach distracts your concentration. So, you should drink caffeine before going to class such as a coffee or tea so it can keep you alerted. Energy-boosted drinks, ''Red Bull'' or essence of chicken helps build stamina and keep you energized during the time you're in class. However, much is never good; excessive caffeine can cause insomnia, anxiety. So, if you don't want to end up being a lifeless vegetable, be careful with your intakes.
In addition, having a healthy lifestyle is also important to prevent fall asleep during class. The average sleep for an adolescent is 8 hours daily. Of course, we can't avoid those late nights or early mornings that we have to stay awake, but make sure that the reason is academics, and not those booty calls. You know what I mean.=) Try to wake up an extra hour early before leaving the house. This seems to make a person more tired than ever, but believe it or not, this can help you prepared for a busy day and get energize. Also bring some music along so you can start running a coupe miles around your area to boost your strength.
You should also say something during classes. This mean, be participative like join a debate, ask question, and clarify things you don't understand. Formulate questions in your mind, construct them into sentences, and speak up. Next, you should sit in front, because it makes you pay more attention and you can having eye contact with teacher. So, there's no time for you to fall asleep.
Last, we have to make a conscious, concerted effort to avoid or overcome the situation. Come on, have some interest in your class. It may be the most boring subject; but, maybe if you give it a little chance, it wouldn't seem that boring after all. Enjoy every experience university life gives you.

My Life In MMU
I decided not to go to Form6 when i haven't get my SPM result, that's mean i will either choose a college life or university life. Actually i'm choosing Sunway College to take the CAT course, but my uncle advises me not to going there and he advise me to MMU. Finally, i'm still here-MMU.Actually i'm preferring study at Sunway college rather than MMU, maybe i don't want stay at Melaka or the seduction of facilities in Sunway College. Anyway, i have no other choice and i have started my university life on 7/6/2010 by taking Foundation in Management.
My first came to MMU campus, i think i will get lost, because i can't even find my venue. I did come to MMU before i start my study, but just pass by the President Square only. I didn't really 'visit' the whole campus. The other reason that i scare i will get lost in MMU is i skip the orentation week. That moment i feel that MMU is quite big, just that moment! After that, i feel that MMU is just that 'big'. This makes me sad.
My first lecture is english 1. I still remember that time we are new, everyone just keep quiet, untill our english teacher, Ms. Jasline introduce herself as our english lecturer. Of couse, the next victim is us, we are having a short ice-breaking, oh my godness!! Such a embarrassing moment, for me. Ms. Jasline do having sense of humor, she do makes our class not to be so quiet and boring. After that, our head of class, Mr. Micheal, has being choosen by Ms. Jasline. First lecture was not bad to me, because i know that i'll having a humor teacher teaching me english. Suddenly, i feel that i really miss my ex-english sir. He also do have sense of humor.
After one week of lecture, i'm more ok with MMU, not that strange anymore. But i still can't suit myself in university life. Because everything we have to done by ourself, check out ourself, submit ourself, apply ourself, totally different with secondary school. I still remember that, in secondary school, everythings done by teacher, settle by teacher. I just realise that i'm not young anymore. But, I'm still 17 year's old!!( haha ) Anyway, i'm trying to suit myself in this busy life and learn from zero, because it is not same with previous anymore.
The most familiar subject to me in university is account, english and math. Because i have learn it before. The most strange subject to me is economics, i don't have basic, and i don't understand what teacher talking about. Madam Kerk is our lecturer. I'm not here to saying any bad word of Madam Kerk, but just when she's teaching, is too rush and few example, after explaination, she thought that we can understand, but actually we don't. I really feel stress with this subject, everytime after her lecture, i have to learn by myself once again. This make me confuse and even more tension. (!!!)
Soon, i'm very familiar to my 'beloved' university, everyday the same thing i do. Finding parking at parking lot, this is the most headache thing for me. There is limited parking for students, but a lot of car. The new car park is too far, so everyone dislike the new car park, me too. After settle down my car, rushing for my lecture venue, everyday the same thing to do. I feel boring already, because i thought that university life is free, and enjoy. BUT, it's totally different, it's busy, homework as much as mountain. I feel tired sometimes, because didn't sleep well, and keep rushing. I even don't have tv time, if i have free time, you will found that im lying on my lovely bed hugging my lovely pillow, not in front of the tv show.
Now, exam week is coming soon, im still blur-ing with my economics exercise, stressful by assignment. But i do promise myself, i want to get first honour result. I know i will still continue my life in MMU as i mention no matter how stressful. For me,everyone only have three days, that's yesterday, today and tomorow, yesterday is already pass, today we got to use it wisely and we have to plan for tomorow. This is what i have promise myself and the first honour result. ( i hope so =) )
